Since 2001, the Swift Carnival has provided a fun and FREE way to introduce kindergarten through second-grade students from our partnering sites to Swift Youth Foundation. This year’s Carnival theme is Out of This World, so the children will play some space-themed games, get their face painted, and participate in other exciting attractions. |

Are you a teen or adult that would like to get involved with a great group of students but would like more information? Below are some of our Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Expected of me as a volunteer?
As a Swift volunteer you are a representative of Swift Youth Foundation. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to add value to the lives of over 300 Swift youth by playing great games and eating amazing food. We are excited that you will be joining us.
There are 3 questions that we always want to make sure we have a “yes” answer to at Swift Youth Foundation. In order to ensure the participants have the best experience possible, make sure you’re asking yourself the following questions throughout the day:
1. Are the participants safe?
2. Are the participants having fun?
3.Are you being a good role model?
If you make sure you can always answer yes to these three questions, you’re doing great!

What Do I need To Bring With Me?
What to wear?
- School appropriate and comfortable clothing and shoes that you can run around in.
- The event is outside so please take this into consideration when dressing for the day. Please take proper sun safety precautions before arriving (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, etc).
- Upon arriving you will be provided with a special volunteer T-shirt and expected to wear it all day.
- Bring a reusable water bottle; however, if you forget, we will have water available for you. Participants and volunteers are encouraged to stay hydrated while at the Swift Carnival.
- Swift Carnival is a "Phone Free" Event. Please plan to leave cell phones in your bags and away from participants. We want you to be present in the moment in order to provide the participants with the best experience possible (and for yourselves). We will have a professional photographer at the carnival so there will be tons of photos taken.
Where Do I Need to Go and When Do I need To Be There?
Don't show up late to the party! Here's what you need to know about where to go:
Address: 15815 N 30th St, Phoenix, AZ 85032 This is the same location as last time.
Parking: Swift Carnival 2025 will be located at Palomino Park and you will be checking into the event under the ramada. Parking will be in the lot between the park and Palomino Intermediate. There will be a parking attendant helping to direct traffic in this lot, all spaces are first come, first served. Parking is limited, so carpooling is highly encouraged!
Time: Volunteer check-in begins at 9:45am and all volunteers are asked to arrive no later than 10:00am for check-in and orientation. Please be on time.

What Happens If it Rains?
Great question! The show will go on... we will move as much as we can inside and the Swift Carnival will still be a BLAST! Please plan accordingly. You will receive notification leading up to the event that will include weather considerations.
Will You Feed Me?
Yes! Swift started with a simple idea, "give them all the food they can eat and all the love they can take!" Keeping in this tradition, we love to meet the basic needs of our participants and volunteers, so y-e-s! you'll be well fed!
Breakfast - bagel breakfast will be available beginning at 9:45am
Lunch Plan - we'll be serving up over 300 hamburgers and 400 hot dogs for lunch beginning at 11:00pm
Break Area - volunteer central, located in the Boys and Girl's Club on the East side of the event, will have plenty of snacks for you!

Does this count for service hours?
Yes! If you would like to count Swift Carnival 2024 for volunteer service hours, please pick up a letter at the end of the Carnival from volunteer check-out. This letter will certify that you volunteered for five hours of community service. If you have any special forms to be filled out or need another type of verification of your service, please email us at [email protected].
WHat If I Have More Questions?
Prior to the event, please don't hesitate to Email us. On the day of Carnival, all of our staff and lead volunteers will be wearing red, yellow, or green t-shirts. Feel free to reach out to any of the Swift team and they will be happy to help!

What are my volunteer options?
You will assigned one of two volunteer jobs, booth leader or mentor. Please read the volunteer descriptions below to so you know how to be successful!
Booth leaders facilitate carnival games rather than being assigned to participate directly in the carnival with the kids. Some key things to know about being a booth leader:
Group leaders are responsible for taking a group of participants around the carnival. You will be playing games and participating in activities with the kids. Here are some important things to remember throughout the day:

- You will be given a description of the game's instructions and how to play for you to review when you get to your booth.
- Please do not leave your booth unattended at any time during the carnival
- Make sure that you are interacting with the participants and are speaking to them on their level.
- We may ask you to assist with lunch prior to the start of the carnival activities.
- Have FUN, it's contagious!
Group leaders are responsible for taking a group of participants around the carnival. You will be playing games and participating in activities with the kids. Here are some important things to remember throughout the day:
- Introduce yourself to the kids, get to know them and ask if you can participate with them in the activities and games.
- Let the participants decide which booths they want to go to.
- Never be alone with a participant (this is especially important when making bathroom trips)!
- Be there to make the kids’ day AMAZING! Have fun and so will the kids!
What happens if There is an accident?
Ouch! If you or a participant have an accident, please seek assistance in the first aid station.
Can I bring a friend to volunteer with me?
Absolutely! The more the merrier! All volunteers must register before the event for the safety and security of our youth participants. Please forward our volunteer signup to any friends you think would be a great Swift volunteer. All volunteers will need a liability waiver filled out and signed.
