DANCIN'SPIRATION -A Benefit for swift

Swift Youth Foundation is proud to announce we have be chosen to be the beneficiary for the 2018 DancIN'spiration show presented by the local dance company: DanceMotion. DanceMotion not only teaches dance, but also inspires young dancers to give back and  share their talents with the community. Swift is lucky to have Sophi Moyer, a DanceMotion dancer, as a member of our Team Swift teen leadership program. Sophi nominated Swift to benefit from the event and has been instrumental in connecting DanceMotion and Swift. Below, please read a letter from Sophi describing the event and why she decided to nominate Swift to be the beneficiary.

Hi! My name is Sophi Moyer and I am a member of the teen mentor group for the Swift Youth Foundation, called Team Swift. I am also part of a dance company called DanceMotion. Every year DanceMotion partners with several other dance studios to put together a show at the Orpheum Theatre called DancIN’spiration. The ticket money from this show goes to a nonprofit organization chosen by the DanceMotion board. This year, the DanceMotion board was searching for a nonprofit organization worthy to receive the profits from the show, so I chose to nominate Swift after seeing the impact it has made on my life. ​

Before writing the nomination, I was looking into what I could do to combine my passion for Swift and the amazing virtues and life lessons I learn at dance. The owners of my dance studio -Meri and Kevin Bender-  emphasize the importance of leadership, respect, and kindness in the environment of the dance studio. These virtues are taught in the studio with the ultimate goal of being brought into our everyday lives. Throughout the year Mr. and Mrs. Bender lead many meetings in which all of the dancers set goals, learn about how we can become better leaders, friends and citizens to our community. 

The impact that the DancIN’spiration meetings have had on my life is immeasurable, so I thought the best thing I could do is share it by nominating Swift to benefit from the show!

​DancIN’spiration has been going on for many years now and has gone to benefit so many people. I am beyond excited to see how my two passions with grow together and how this show will benefit the Swift Youth Foundation. The show is Sunday, January 21st at 7p.m. the Orpheum Theatre. Tickets can be purchased at the Swift office and are sold at the door beginning at 6 PM.
